It has been cited as being,"clearly hostile to freedom of expression." (Reporters Without Borders) and has the potential to lead to disaster for companies and websites such as Tumblr, YouTube, DeviantArt and Amazon which have been protected by 'safe harbor' legislation that does not make them directly responsible for the content of their users as long as they make an effort to remove copyright infringing materials when alerted.

Regrettably, the clearest violation of rights lies in the fact that there is no independent judicial control. This bill will put absolute power into the hands of rightsholders and will effectively negate a long-standing pillar of the United States Judicial System, that we are innocent until proven guilty.

When you stop asserting your rights, to their fullest, you lose them entirely. This is one more step towards the United States adopting a Great Firewall of China mentality with regards to the rights afforded to us of free speech, expression and due process.
